Devon, the arbitrary division of the "Law" into two separate ones: moral and ceremonial, cannot be derived from scripture. It is a division made by the SDA church in order to maintain the doctrine that we are all bound by the entire law.
In so doing, they must overlook dozens of NT texts that clearly contradict such a position.
Christians should be guided by the NT and in many areas it differs greatly from the Old. The NT is the last word for Christians.

Devon and Elaine, just so we don't go "Salvation by grace alone" too far. Yes the Decalogue was fufilled at the cross but there was a new rule of life, Christ's Law that Paul says he is under. What is that? All Jesus commands, and the apostles, and from my study, what was the Divine Law of God before He created the earth. It did not include the Sabbath and maybe not the 5th commandment or others if the angels can't commit adultery, eh??????? Although those were reiterated in the NT, all except the Sabbath.

http://solochristo.com/theology/nct/definenct.htm# Law%20of%20Christ

http://www.biblicalstudies.com/bstudy/hermenutics/ ibri-1.htm

Salvation by grace alone, refers to justification. There is still a race to be run. Sanctification. Romans 15:16. The Spirit is to indwell in the convert so the new rule of life, definitely more strict than the Decalogue, can be followed by the Christian. But to require a rest day as the Jews had, when none is given, preaches another gospel. Rest on whatever day you want but mandating one for salvation is dangerous, SDAs do and so do orthodox Protestants, all under Covenant Theology, because they believe there was no discontinuity between Old and New Covennat, which is anti-Biblical. Heb 8:13.

Someone might ask: "But aren't the Ten Commandments
separate from the covenant? Why are you including them
in the covenant?"

Deut 4:13 He declared to you his covenant,
the Ten Commandments, which he commanded
you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.

(Message edited by Bob_2 on March 31, 2009)

(Message edited by Bob_2 on March 31, 2009)

(Message edited by Bob_2 on March 31, 2009)

Even the Ten Commandments come under a broader commandment - to LOVE - God and others as yourself. This is not the "be nice" commandment that comes out looking soppy.

The larger Christian community - the one that worships on Sunday, has a problem in accepting 9 out of 10. The truth is, none of the ten are binding on the NC Christian who is continually led by the Spirit to do the right thing - per. the two great commandments.

It's been the "perfect" doctrine for a church who claims to be the "only one" that keeps all the commandments; and all the others are Babylon and will risk having the Mark of the Beast. Great selling point for fearful people who are biblical illiterates, which is why those "Revelation Seminars" are so effective--in third world countries.

Sirje, the two are important but also these were given, which flow from these two:

http://cranfordville.com/NTViceLists.html

http://cranfordville.com/NTVirtureLists.html

Christ's Law is those two and the lists above from the NT. No Sabbath!
