Because men's marital status is not identified by a title, women's should not either. That is why many women today are not adopting their husband's name but continuing to keep their name given at birth. A woman loses her familial identity when she accepts a different name. Professional career females (Ph.D's, M.D.'s and attorneys, etc.) are now no longer forefeiting their birth name to accept their husband's which may be a temporary thing.
