Or, shall we take comfort in the depiction of the woman in Revelation 12 that has the moon(cresent?, Moslem?) under her feet and the sun(Paganism?) behind her?

Look God is sovereign and He is going to end this thing His way. We should as America make wise choices, but God is steering this whole thing, and Iran is not going to be abe to do anything God won't let them do.

Bob, interesting theory: God is steering things. If that is true, why is he allowing millions of innocent to die? If you say Iran, of Afghanistan, or Uganda are not going to be able to do anything God won't let them do, then he's surely allowing millions to be killed if he's in charge. If your child is stricken, is it God's will? Does he send the disease, or allow it? Does he start, or macromanage all such wars?

You have forgotten the story of the Hunter, the Bear and the Trap. Short term pain for Long Term gain, only some refuse to see that unless in a coma or unconscious as the Hunter has to do to get the Bear out of the trap, with more pain, he doesn't feel when put into an unconscious state. God has His way, not Elaine's or Bob's way, to character strengthen, or to bring more good in the end than if certain events did not happen. Again, take time to read, A Case for Faith, by Lee Strobel, instead of the atheistic/skeptic's library you are building.

How does it strengthen a baby's character, or a mother or father's faith if their child dies of SIDS? Please be practical, not theoretical. Words are fancy when one has not experienced such suffering. What good can possibly come "in the end" of losing a beloved child?? If you believe Strobel, tell me in your own words what is the "good" to come from such terrible suffering??

Iran is not going to be abe to do anything God won't let them do. are we speaking of the same God of the Hebrews who let Hitler massacre 4-5 million of His alleged best friends, the Hebrews themselves? so are you suggesting that if iran gets the bomb, it will be God's fault, and not Obamas? and if they were to use the bomb on israel, thatwould be with God's permission, since Iran is not going to be abe to do anything God won't let them do. interesting logic there,bob.... if God is in charge, then he is responsible for both good, AND the bad that happens, as Elaine pointed out. and so far, you are not alone in being unable to respond rationally to that problem.

Elaine, did God promise when you were born, no pain, no loss, not heartache. The fact you can identify evil means there is good, a God that is good. Trials are given, no greater than one can bear to strengthen one's character. The only promise, our dying pastor of cancer said, the only promise God has made is to save if you believe in and accept the gift and the Holy Spirit to empower you. Will your or my logic be the way God does things, I don't expect that, but that is your problem in this whole discussion, sort of selfish to want it your way, is it not????

Trials are given,...by God???? no greater than one can bear to strengthen one's character. so those 5+ million Hebrews shot, gassed, and burned in Hitlers ovens... how did that "strengthen their character? oh, I know.... it strengthened the character of their decendants... the current Hebrews occupying theHoly land, still claiming that their God gave it to them... so thisthread , which claims that Iran will only get thebombif God wants it to happen, andonly if He allows, might be a forcast that since the hebrews claim such a wonderful contact with their God, it is they, the Hebrews, the Israeliis, the Jews, who will decide whether or not Iran gets the bomb... so does this suggest that the Jews will attack iran? using US equipment? to blow up their nuclear program? all according to their belief in God's will? which action will send US back to the bicycle age...as Iran blocks the Straits of Hormuz, and oil prices surge or become scarce... and we can no longer afford to support our oil based economy. better be careful what we wish for!!!

But, the Jews had this conditional promise of plenty if they obey and spreading through out the world if they reject Him, which they did. We as USA were right to end World War II and the Holocaust but was this part of what God had promised Israel for their disobedience. Forget Hitler, he may have been a vechicle but the Jews know these promises and conditions. Does that mean we should rote for the Iranian objective to wipe Israel from the face of the map, no, we should stand with Israel as we would with any other allie threatened by such a monster.
