The number of prisoners in Finland has decreased by 10% in last five years. Therefore - and for the current economical situation - the number of prisons will decrease. The first prison in the butcher's list is Konnunsuo, a prison even more famous than Pelso. The Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland is notorious of it's invention of a new concept: Light rape (c.f. Light Pepsi).

Prisoners in the U.S. are always increasing. Currently, there are insufficient spaces to imprison all of them. With the insufficient revenues in all the states, there is a huge problem looming. One method: release the non-violent drug users and demand more rehab and training--always cheaper than incarceration. Today, imprisonment costs each victim more than a Harvard education! But preventive measures are always underfun Because of the bad economy, there are more burglaries, stolen cars, etc., yet fewer police to apprehend for the same reason: lack of funds.

Every time Fouganthine was released from prison, it was rumored that he would come here, i.e. Pori, where his ex-girlfriend lives or at least lived. So the local people are little bit tense...

I have wondered, what would an ideal punitive system be like. One receipt IMHO would be: - take 1/3 measure containing the best aspects of American system. - take 1/3 measure containing the best aspects of Finnish system. - take 1/6 measure of common sense - take 1/6 measure of common decency. Mix the ingredients carefully.

A famous T-shirt When Valjakkala/Fouganthine was released from the prison, he was wearing a T-shirt colored with the colors of Swedish flag and furnished with the text "Sweden". He had committed the triple murder just in Sweden. People are wondering, why he was hinting at Sweden.
